Playroom News:

Thank you to all of those that attended our summer parties. They were a huge success and all had lots of fun.  The children enjoyed having lots of fun with their friends and for the preschoolers it was sad to say goodbye to them at their graduation party. We wish them all the best as they move on to school and hope they come back to visit. Unfortunately due to the weather we have had to rearrange a couple of the parties. Please keep an eye out over the coming weeks for more information about this.

We have worked hard to develop our nature area over the summer and the children have taken pride in growing their own Pumpkin, Runner Beans, Spring Onions, Courgette and Strawberry plants. We also have Apples now growing on our tree that we plan to pick and use for snack. We have spent time reading stories around our pretend campfire and have explored to see what insects and bugs we can find in the rocks and bark. We use our teepee to hide away in and spend time exploring nature in our garden.  Over the coming months as the afternoons get darker we plan to start investigating the outside using torches and see what differences there are in the garden in the late afternoon compared to the morning.

We aim to encourage independence for the children where possible. This can be moving from a beaker to an open cup for the younger children to using a knife and fork. For the older children it can be developing their self-care skills in the Badgers and being able to dress themselves independently. If you would like to know more about ways you can support your child at home to develop their independence then please speak to your child’s key person.

We will be holding a letters and sounds/school readiness meeting in the Autumn for the Badgers parents. This will enable you to find out what happens in letters and sounds and how you can support your child to become school ready. Letters will follow in the coming weeks with more information.

If you haven’t already booked a key person meeting for you child as they move rooms and would like to then please let us know.
